My name is Julia Alsarraf (or "Joules", like the unit of energy). I was born in Houston, Texas and lived there my whole life, until I decided I wanted to become a human icicle, thus resulting in my decision to move up to Troy, NY and join the RPI Undergraduate Class of 2013.
In high school I mainly dealt with charcoal drawings and other 2D media, but I've also tinkered around with electronics and computers my whole life, and I've spent a lot of time playing various instruments, ranging from the viola to the theremin and everything else in between.
At RPI, I'm hoping to combine my artistic tendencies with my love for music and technology to create interactive sound art, or perhaps to work in the area of software/hardware development to extend the creative boundaries of music as we perceive and interact with it.
Only time will tell.
(But time doesn't exist.)
